Shakirah is an energy professional with over 16 years of experience in the electricity sector, with expertise in grid operations, energy planning, and nuclear power. At Tenaga Nasional Berhad, she began as a grid system operator and progressed to roles in generation modelling, energy economics, regulatory frameworks, market design, energy transition strategies and grid-edge technologies. She led technical and economic assessments of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and large-scale Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) for MyPOWER, evaluating technologies, grid integration, system impacts, and cost-benefit implications for Malaysia’s energy mix. Shakirah holds a BSE in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan, USA, and an MSc in Nuclear Power Plant Engineering from KINGS, South Korea. She is fluent in English and Malay.
